Welcome to drama in December, 2020! What a year it has been. We have finally reached the end of 2020, and in drama class, we are making the most of our short month.
This month, you can find us: - Finishing up our Theatre de Marionettes - Presenting our mini plays to small groups - Making sure we understand a proper storyline (every story needs a beginning, middle and end) - Have fun before the Holidays! Check out some pictures below of our preparations for our mini theatre de marionettes! Happy Holidays & See You in the New Year! Welcome to Drama in November! It's hard to believe we are almost through 2020. This month, we will be looking at a few things! Different forms of drama. What does this mean? We will be looking at: - Musicals - Puppets - Readers - Improvisation - Mime (we've already perfected this one!) This will take us some time to do! We will be working on these subjects in November and December, and hope to create a play all on our own! Want to learn more at home? Watch this example of a type of puppet theater: Welcome to October! We can't believe how fast the time is passing. Here's a little look into what we're planning to do this month. Miming We are learning all about miming! We are practicing miming, watching videos and playing games. Here's an example of a mime video you can watch at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca9SWT_2g-s Halloween It's spooky season! We will be focusing on activities around themes of Halloween. Check out the book we will be reading today along with a 'monster creation' sheet. Along with this, we will be acting out the Halloween themes. Here's a game we will play in class that you can play at home as well! Through the Woods 1. Discuss different Halloween characters that you are familiar with before starting the game 2. Begin the game by saying "Into the woods we go..." 3. As the children pretend they are walking in the woods, the next step is saying "suddenly, you see a ghost!" 4. The children must act as if they are the Halloween character by miming (sounds and gestures only, no speech). What We're Working Towards We are working on our: - Gestures - Facial Expressions - Sound effects - French words/sentences - Understanding a scene - Describing what is happening in the scene We're looking forward to our drama classes this month! We really enjoyed listening to the picture book, Monstre des Couleurs. The monster was feeling very confused becaus he could feel all of his emotions at the same time! He had to separate them into jars. We then coloured in our very own monsters, showing exactly how we felt today.
Welcome to Drama 2020-2021 at Roslyn Elementary school! On this website, we will update you on the themes of the month, lessons we are working on and some insight into our Monday Drama class. We can't wait to show you all the fun we are having.
September Theme: Emotions September's theme is emotions. Some things we will be focusing on are: - Gestures - Facial expressions - Miming - Reading emotions - Showing emotions Why emotions? 2020 has been a very difficult and strange year. It is important that we check in on ourselves, understanding what we are feeling, why we are feeling a certain way and be able to discuss our emotions with our friends and teachers. What do we hope to accomplish by the end of the month (or early October)? - Display certain emotions - Read emotions - Know the emotion words in French - Create a skit that involves miming a situation that displays emotions What can we do at home? Have a discussion about certain situations that make us feel triste or facher, and discuss ways we can cope and feel better. New school year, we are ready for you! |
